The Tasini Bag came to life by an association in Indonesia, which supports the most important eco-system – the ocean. Washed up plastic is collected during beach clean-ups, categorized, and up-cycled to reusable plastic bags. The association even organizes non-profit programs at Indonesian schools to enhance eco-awareness.

For their idea “Tasini”, the German-Indonesian environmental initiative Making Oceans Plastic Free received an innovation challenge award by the environmental program of the United Nations (UNEP).
The “Clean Seas Innovation Challenge” recognizes promising solutions to the issue of marine plastic pollution developed by students from around the world. Along with three other projects “Tasini” was selected over 200 other submitted proposals. The award was recently presented in San Diego, USA, as part of the International Marine Debris Conference.
